Salton Sea Pics 2

This is me at the summit of Mt. Umunhum. This photo was taken January 18th, 2005. Note that the paint peeling off the box is actually lead paint. Access to the summit of Umunhum and the surrounding area is restricted. The summit ridge occuppies the abandoned Almaden Air Force Base, which is home to unsafe structures that contain a lot of asbestos and stuff. However with determination, one could make it to the summit. Santa Clara County, CA. Elevation: 3,486 feet (1,063 meters) On an interesting note, a security camera located at the transmitters between Umunhum and Thayer is accessible on the net. Click on "Links" to the left. Also check out for more info on Um.

The windswept summit of KT-22, one of the main peaks of the Squaw Valley Ski Resort. I took the chairlift to the ridge. From there, I strapped out of my snowboard and hiked up the summit pyramid, tackling some class 3 scrambling along the way (kind of nerveracking in icy, windy conditions, but I love that kind of stuff). The actual summit is about 50 feet higher than the ski run. A sudden drop off will greet you once you step onto the summit. Placer County, CA. Elevation: 8,200 feet (2,499 meters)

This is me on Loma Prieta Road, near the summit of 3,791 foot Loma Prieta. I didn't get to the top, because it was really foggy. That was the first time I had been up there. I wasn't sure exactly which road to take. However, I did make it up pretty high, around 3,500 feet. There was about two inches of accumulated snow, which isn't common for the Santa Cruz mountains. I've gone back numerous times and made it to the radio antennea covered summit.

My highest point, the summit of Mt. Whitney, 14,497 ft. I climbed the Mountaineer's Route which was a nice alternative to the trail. Looking a bit flustered, eh?

Summit of the Grauspitz, 8527 feet (2599 meters) above sea level. This is the highest point in Liechtenstein, with no maintained trail to the summit. For more info on the Grauspitz, click here.

View from Silver Pass, looking south. Silver Pass is on the John Muir Trail in the John Muir Wilderness. Elevation: 10,945 feet. (3357 meters)

Half Dome (left) and Liberty Cap (right) from the John Muir Trail, near Navada Falls. Photographed in July, 2005.

A rare view of the little-known Joaquin Rocks, located in the Diablo Range, 20 miles north of the town of Coalinga, CA. April, 2006.

Summit rocks of San Benito Mountain on a very foggy day. April, 2006.

Summit of the Wildhauser Schafberg, located in the Toggenburg region of Switzerland. Churfirsten are visible in the foreground, on the otherside of the valley.

A view of Jobs Peak, Jobs Sister, and Freel Peak, from the summit of Monument Peak (10,067 ft.). December, 2005.

That's me standing on a pole at the summit of Mt. Bachelor (9,060 ft.), July 2006. This was my first Cascade summit.
